The One About Iron
I’ve been borderline anemic for as long as I can remember. It’s shown up as hidden forms and symptoms that I’d ignored over and over again.
It’s severity dawned on me when I was pregnant with my second child. I knew I was tired because I was pregnant, but this fatigue was ridiculous.
During my next doctor’s appointment I brought up the symptoms and asked about my iron levels. Within a week or so, the doctor confirmed that I was full on anemic and prescribed me some iron supplements. They also approved of me taking the equivalent amount of iron from over the counter supplements which I shared in this video (and yes, I’m preggers with a fluffy face and all in this video).
I started doing some research and came across all this information that were less “take this pill and be done with it”, and more “try not eating this with this and maybe you won’t end up feeling faint all the damn time”. It was pretty eye opening.
And none of it was mentioned to me by medical professionals in the past.
None of it.
While I couldn't completely get myself out of the “anemic” classification while pregnant even with the supplements and behavior changes, I was able to do it right after.
